5/18 Rocky Butte Spring Migration Warbler Walk
May 18, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
Let’s look for warblers together!
Rocky Butte is an interesting and underbirded place with great views of Portland. I’ll show you all the birdiest spots at the top, and give you an introduction to birding there. Expect some warblers, thrushes, sparrows and maybe a raven or turkey vulture!
If we are having fun and feeling good we can consider checking out a birdy spot downhill too.
If needed, I’ll provide you with binoculars, teach you how to use them, and we will explore about two miles of of flat gravel trails. I’ll teach you a few bird calls as well as point out the different species we see and hear, and answer any questions you have about bird watching and birds.
This tour is designed for beginners, but I welcome all levels of bird enthusiasts! Want to focus on birding by ear, bird photography? Let me know!
Join me at the top trail to the top of Rocky Butte indicated in the photo. Parking is free.
This event is rain or shine and will last about 1.5 hours depending on how much fun we are having. Bring weather appropriate clothing and maybe something to snack on or drink. There is no bathroom here.
