West Coast Pigeons and Doves

The western states are lucky enough to get four species of pigeons and doves fairly reliably. The Band-tailed pigeon is the only one that only breeds in Oregon and Washington, while It winters in California and Mexico – In flight, its the one with the plain band on the tip of its tail.
The Rock pigeon is very well known, as they are everywhere… Mourning doves stand out because of how slender they are and how skinny and long their tails are. Eurasian Collared-doves make hooting noises that make people think they have day time owls in their neighborhood.
